The project provides low-cost long-distance voice and mobile broadband services for remote rural areas in Nigeria, helping to connect the unconnected. Nokia and Orange Middle East and Africa are rolling out a Nokia single radio access network and network management technology across seven African countries in a three-year modernization project to prepare for the launch of 4G services. To facilitate the deployment, Nokia has set up a dedicated West and Central Africa Support Center for Orange.

Etisalat Misr (Etisalat Egypt) and Huawei have completed the world’s first verification of Huawei’s CloudAIR GL15MHz spectrum dynamic sharing solution on Etisalat Misr's 1800 MHz network in Cairo, Egypt. The solution enables spectrum dynamic sharing between GSM and LTE with unprecedented overlap between the two, which increases both LTE data rate and cell capacity available in the 1800 MHz spectrum allocation.

Singapore-based Broadcom said it was cutting its offer price for mobile chip maker Qualcomm in the wake of the US firm's increased bid for Dutch rival NXP. Broadcom reduced its offer to $79 a share, which would still be the largest-ever deal in the tech sector if completed at an estimated value of nearly $117 billion.

Huawei was chosen to build a data center for the Customs in Algeria following a contract signed between the Chinese colossus and the Public Finance Informatics Agency of the Ministry of Finance. This project will be financed by the Fund of Appropriation of ICT Development and Users (Faudtic) of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications, Technologies and Digital Technology.
