Airtel Kenya has announced a positive update for its customers by reducing excise duty rates on its telecommunication services. As part of this change, Airtel Kenya will decrease the excise duty from the current 20% to 15% for voice, data and SMS services, providing cost benefits to its customers. However, the transaction charges for Airtel money services will remain unchanged.

Airtel Kenya expressed gratitude for its customers' ongoing support and affirmed its commitment to being the most affordable network in terms of voice, data, SMS and Airtel money services.

In addition to this cost reduction, Airtel Kenya has been expanding its network coverage to cater to the increasing demand for data services across the country. In June, the company became one of the providers to launch 5G services in Kenya, alongside Safaricom.

According to Ashish Malhotra, managing director of Airtel Kenya, the company currently operates over 370 active 5G sites in 16 counties and 180 wards nationwide, offering data speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G and seamless connectivity for various devices.
