ANACOM, the National Communications Authority of Portugal, has joined forces with ARME, Cape Verde's Multisectoral Economic Regulatory Agency, to enhance the telecoms spectrum control system in Cape Verde. This collaboration involves the installation of remote-control stations, utilizing ANACOM's software, across all the islands of the Cape Verde archipelago.

The first station has already been deployed on Boa Vista Island, allowing the Cape Verdean regulator to efficiently manage the spectrum from its headquarters in Praia. This setup eliminates the need for on-site teams, leading to reduced operating costs and significantly improved efficiency due to enhanced capacity and faster response times.

This joint effort stems from a cooperation protocol signed between ANACOM and ARME, with Cape Verde already employing a similar system for evaluating mobile network service quality, a practice adopted by ANACOM in Portugal.

Apart from Cape Verde, ANACOM has conducted similar cooperation initiatives this year with Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tomé and Principe.

By enhancing spectrum monitoring, ARME aims to effectively manage and optimize telecom frequencies in Cape Verde, mitigating interference issues among various telecom services. Furthermore, well-managed spectrum allocation paves the way for the integration of new technologies like 5G, ensuring high-quality services for the entire population.
