Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communications and DigitalEeconomy, Nigeria announced that a program will be launched over the next 18 months to train 1 million developers in the country.

The government member who attended a virtual workshop on the importance of software testing in the Nigerian economy said the certification of more software professionals had become imperative due to the integration of software in all aspects of human life and the need for a secure system, "This will eliminate the fact that the market is loaded with software with many vulnerabilities," he added.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will provide the training, which will be open to both professionals and beginners. Also, the minister invited digital players to support this cause. "We want to see how we can allow some of you to provide these services. This means that if I develop software, I have to consult a certified tester to make sure I meet the standard quality assurances, all the basic bugs, and vulnerability assessment before I can sell that software," he said.
