Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) has set forth an ambitious goal to bring high-speed fiber-optic Internet services to an additional 1 million households by the year 2027. The primary objective behind this initiative is to eliminate obstacles to digital access, especially for individuals residing in distant and underserved communities.

Peter Ulanga, the CEO of TTCL, has stated that the company is anticipating an expansion of its Internet services to encompass 100 districts by January 2024. Furthermore, TTCL is striving to envelop all 139 districts across the nation with its connectivity by December 2024.

By connecting an additional million households to fiber-optic Internet services, Tanzania anticipates a reduction in its digital divide, effectively expediting the government's aspirations for digital transformation.

Recent statistics from the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) for the fourth quarter of the 2022-2023 fiscal year (April-June) reveal that the country boasted a user base of 34 million Internet users.
