Henok Teferra Shawl, chief external affairs and regulatory officer at Safaricom, recently took part in a plenary discussion organized by the IFC (International Finance Corporation) focusing on the expansion of digital solutions in the agricultural sector for its future growth.

“Our primary objective is to become the preferred partner in developing platforms that cater to the specific requirements of the agricultural industry. These platforms aim to enhance crop yield, streamline the supply chain, and improve waste management. We are deeply committed to addressing the needs of the 85% of our population who are farmers by providing connectivity [and] digital solutions and integrating with M-Pesa, Africa's largest digital financial service, in the near future,” noted Henok.

Being a purpose-driven technology company, the primary focus is on transforming lives and preparing for a digital future. “Through the active development of our network, we aim to provide comprehensive support to Ethiopia's 2025 Digital Transformation Strategy,” added Shawl.
