Vodacom Mozambique, the leading mobile service provider in the country, has announced the launch of its first commercial 5G mobile service in select areas of Maputo, Nampula, Nacala, Beira and Tete.

Vodacom, which operates in seven other African countries, was excited to bring quality network connectivity to communities across Africa, bringing individuals and businesses closer to the global digital economy. According to Vodacom Group's chief technology officer, Dejan Kastelic, the introduction of 5G in Mozambique is expected to bring exciting opportunities for technological innovation, business solutions and the expansion of IoT use cases, thanks to its wider network coverage, reliable network connections and faster data transfer capabilities.

The deployment of 5G is also expected to boost financial inclusion by expanding the availability of Vodacom's mobile money service, M-Pesa.
