Orange announced its participation in the SEA-ME-WE 6 (Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 6) consortium, for the construction of a new so-called "express" submarine system which will directly connect France, from Marseille to Singapore.

Designed using the latest submarine optical fiber technologies, this cable will offer very low latency and very high speed, in order to meet the growing needs of our customers on this strategic route. Orange will be responsible for the "landing party" on French territory and will host the cable in Marseille in its secure infrastructure.

"We are delighted with our participation in this new system in order to offer a new high-speed and high-performance "express" connectivity solution between France and Asia and to support the growing needs of our customers over time. this strategic route. This new link will also allow us to secure our existing traffic, and allow better throughput to our locations in the Indian Ocean,” says Jean-Luc Vuillemin, Director of International Networks at Orange.

Orange thus continues to invest massively in submarine cable connectivity projects in order to guarantee and constantly improve the quality of service of its global network of more than 40 submarine cables. Orange is already present in numerous consortia on the Europe-Asia route through its investments in SEA-ME-WE3, SEA-ME-WE4, SEA-ME-WE5, IMEXE and SAFE. After recent projects on the Atlantic front (FRIENDSHIP and DUNANT) and in the Mediterranean (PEACE), the arrival of this new cable once again places France at the heart of the European platform from which many international networks reach Asia, but also Africa and the Americas. Orange and submarine cables, focus on this route and our existing investments in this area.
