The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) announced the awarding of the country's third telecom license to Malcel Plc. The new operator plans to enter the national telecom market next year. If successful, it will compete against Airtel Malawi and Telecom Network Malawi (TNM). In addition to mobile telephony, the new company plans to provide mobile financial services through its MCASH platform.

AMS-IX will be setting up an internet exchange at MDXi, the carrier-neutral data center of MainOne in Lagos, Nigeria. MDXi will act as AMS-IX’s strategic partner and reseller for AMS-IX in West Africa.

Cassava Technologies Group's data center construction and operations subsidiary, Africa Data Centers (ADC), has received a US$83 million disbursement from the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Development Finance Agency (DFC). This disbursement is part of a US$300 million commitment, which will expand the company's South African data center network.

SES made public its financial results for the first six months of 2022, announcing revenues of €899 million (+2.8% YoY as reported) and adjusted EBITDA of €545 million (flat YoY as reported). Adjusted Net Profit improved by 11% YoY to €168 million, while leverage reduced to 3.0 times.
