Wingu Africa, a company based in Djibouti, has officially inaugurated its new Tier III data center in Addis Ababa ICT Park, joining the increasing number of data center operators in the Ethiopian capital. Addis Ababa was ranked the second-best location worldwide for data center facilities in 2022.

The opening ceremony was attended by Belete Molla, Minister of Technology and Innovation, along with officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC). According to Minister Molla, the facility will play a crucial role in supporting Ethiopia's ICT sector growth strategy and facilitating digital transformation.

Wingu Africa invested $50 million in the construction of this Tier III data center, which took two years to complete.

The EIC describes the facility as one that ensures uninterrupted services for customers and will require 12 MW of power when fully operational. It is equipped with independent backup systems for power, cooling, and network connectivity to provide reliable internet services. In addition to Ethiopia, the Wingu Africa Investment Group also operates in Djibouti, Somaliland, and Tanzania.
