Technology giant Huawei and Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd. (TTCL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the deployment of FTTH (fiber to the home), fixed wireless network (4G) and countryside deployment and expansion of mobile network and fixed network.
The signing ceremony took place during Tanzania Day at Expo 2020 in Dubai in the presence of the president of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan and witnessed by the minister of information, communications and information technology, Nape Nnauye.
According to Waziri Kindamba, director general of TTCL, the collaboration with Huawei will allow both companies improve in various areas, a step that help TTCL build capacity, especially with Tanzania undergoing a digital transformation. “Our goal is to ensure that every person is connected with speedy and quality internet services”, he said.
As for Damon Zhang, Huawei Tanzania’s managing director, he stated that Huawei's commitment to partnering with TTCL is a result of the firm's understanding of the significance of infrastructure for the development of the country's communication sector. This partnership between the two entities will lead to significant amount of digitization in the country.
