Celtiis, a mobile operator and a subsidiary of ‘Société Béninoise d'Infrastructures Numériques’ (SBIN), has partnered with the German technology firm Oculeus to enhance its wholesale operations. Through the implementation of Oculeus' billing, routing, and wholesale solution, Celtiis will significantly bolster its ability to manage wholesale operations and its network of interconnection partners for voice and messaging services.
This collaboration is a key component of Celtiis' strategic blueprint to streamline its business support processes in tandem with the recent introduction of new services.
Celtiis debuted its commercial services in the Beninese mobile telephony market in October 2022. Since then, the company has been embarking on various initiatives to fortify its network capacity, positioning itself to compete more effectively against MTN Bénin and Moov Africa Bénin, which have been established as a duopoly since 2018. Earlier this year, the state-owned company declared its telecommunications network fully 5G-capable and was in the process of piloting this technology.
Furthermore, in its initial three months of operation, Celtiis successfully garnered 599,727 subscribers, securing a market share of 4.12%, as reported by the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques et de la Poste (ARCEP). The regulator's most recent data from March 2023 validates this achievement.
