The National Communications Authority (NCA) is conducting a public consultation on the draft Guidelines for the Management of Network Promotional Messages.
The primary objectives of these guidelines are to establish industry standards and requirements for transmitting network promotional messages, ensuring such messages are sent transparently, ethically, and legally.
Additionally, the guidelines aim to protect consumer rights by providing clear opt-in and opt-out mechanisms, to regulate the frequency and timing of promotional messages and to harmonize sender identification names and short codes for better consumer recognition.
The NCA values public involvement and transparency in regulating the electronic communications industry, recognizing the public’s interest in proper regulation.
The consultation period will commence on the 2nd of August 2024 and conclude on the 19th of September 2024. During this period, all stakeholders, including Service Providers, Consumer Advocacy Groups, and the General Public, are encouraged to review the draft guidelines and provide feedback.
The NCA wishes to state that in furtherance of transparency and openness, the Authority shall consider all responses as non-confidential. Consequently, all submissions will be published on the NCA website upon receipt.
