Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Sangboo Kim, Vice President of the World Bank for Digital Transformation, to strengthen collaboration on digital transformation efforts.
During the discussions, they highlighted boosting digital infrastructure, enhancing digital skills, and increasing digital awareness. Talaat highlighted Egypt’s Digital Egypt Strategy, focusing on leveraging technology for sector improvement, government digitization, and innovation.
Talaat emphasized the strategy’s role in preparing youth for future jobs and improving accessibility to digital platforms. He detailed initiatives like extending fiber optics and replacing outdated copper cables to enhance connectivity.
The Minister praised the partnership with the World Bank, which supports digital infrastructure and Egypt’s transformation efforts. Vice President Kim acknowledged Egypt’s progress, aligning with the World Bank’s goals in reducing the digital divide, cybersecurity, and AI.
The meeting explored future collaboration, including expanding submarine cables, data centers, and nationwide internet services to promote digital inclusion. Both parties recognized significant progress in digital governance and real estate wealth management.
